Northern Cafe — a Chinese chain by Co-owners Chuan (Cynthia) Yong and Betty Ren — is opening yet another LA location, this time at 725 W. 7th Street in LA’s Financial District, according to a recently-filed ABC application.

Northern Cafe specializes in dumplings, specifically xiao long bao (soup dumplings), and serves soups, noodle dishes, fried rice plates, house entrees, and small plates such as beef rolls and chive egg pancakes. They also provide several fresh teas, including Thai tea and mango green tea.

Originally a Westwood institution catering to the UCLA crowd, Northern Cafe has expanded over the years to include a handful of Los Angeles and Orange County outposts. It’s currently unclear if the company will continue extending its reach throughout SoCal.

Yong did not respond to WNLA’s request for comment regarding a debut date.
