As one banquet hall and restaurant closes in the suburb, a new one will soon take its place.
Per a recent social media announcement, Mr. B’s Pizzeria & Soul Food will be taking over the former Corsi’s Banquet Center space at 27910 7 Mile Road in Livonia. The new business will also be using the banquet hall which can house around 350 people. Owner Bernard Webster told What Now Detroit it should be open in about two months.
Mr. B’s currently has three concepts, two in Detroit and one in Inkster. The new restaurant will be a pizza shop as well as a hall featuring jazz music performances. Webster said he took inspiration from Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in Grosse Pointe Farms.
Webster used to own a bar that hosted live music and jazz music. The music scene inside the bar inspired him to create a similar space. He has been working on the new Mr. B’s for about two months.
The other Mr. B’s locations focus on soul food options, like meatloaf, turkey chop, burgers, catfish and ribs. The menu for the new location is not official, but it will, of course, have a main focus on pizza. Webster said he will use some of the pizza recipes that the Corsi’s owners provided to him.
“Mr. B’s promises a culinary experience that warms the soul and satiates the appetite,” says the description on their website.
The restaurant and banquet hall is on the north side of Livonia, across from James Party Store. This is a relatively quiet restaurant scene, but will join other pizza spots on the street such as Toarmina’s Pizza and Hungry Howie’s.
There has been no official announcement on their website or social media, but as of late March it was listed on Michigan’s Business Registry website. More information on the restaurant will be released in the coming weeks.
