Throne Room, a new cocktail bar from the team behind Kindred and Mothership, is set to open inside Kindred at 1503 30th Street in San Diego’s South Park neighborhood.
The new concept is expected to open in the coming weeks behind a chain mail curtain inside Kindred, according to San Diego Magazine. While an exact opening date has not been announced, details on soft-opening reservations are expected to be released soon. Customers can expect a 90-minute seated cocktail experience featuring an original drink menu, nonalcoholic beverages, and a selection of shareable food.
Throne Room was created by the same team behind Kindred, which first launched as a pop-up before growing into one of San Diego’s best-known restaurants. The concept dates back to 2017, when Kindred created a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired placemat map for its appearance at Coachella, depicting a hidden space beneath the restaurant. Throne Room brings that fictional setting to life as a permanent dining and drinking experience.
The beverage program will include 12 cocktails, six nonalcoholic elixirs, house tea, wine, and ale. Customers will also be able to order from a food menu called Mystic Mezze, featuring dishes such as whipped fava bean dip served with grilled flatbread and cave-aged cashew brie with olives. The menu is designed to complement the seated cocktail experience.
More information about the concept is available through Throne Room’s Instagram page and Kindred’s website. Reservation details for the soft opening are expected to be announced in the coming days as the team prepares to welcome its first customers.
