Telefèric Barcelona opens its first San Diego location in La Jolla, bringing its signature Spanish cuisine to the area. The restaurant is designed by combining Mediterranean elements and Southern California’s coastal style.
Telefèric Barcelona Opens in La Jolla

Telefèric Barcelona opens its eighth U.S. location today, July 10, at Westfield UTC in La Jolla. The opening marks the brand’s first San Diego location and will coincide with the celebration of the brand’s 10 years in the U.S.
Telefèric is a family-owned brand that is popular for its tapas, pintxos, and paellas. The brand has expanded across California and Arizona since it arrived in the U.S. in 2016.
The new restaurant serves shareable Spanish dishes alongside cocktails, wine, and other specialty beverages. Guests can also shop for imported Spanish products like olive oil and tinned seafood through the restaurant’s in-house market, El Merkat. The restaurant will also offer catering services and at-home paella kits.
The new restaurant opens Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, the timings are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“We have always been intentional about where we open, and La Jolla is exactly the kind of community Telefèric was built for,” said Xavi Padrosa, co-founder of Telefèric Barcelona. “The coastal lifestyle, vibrant dining scene, and strong sense of community felt instantly familiar, like being in our beach town in Barcelona. It reminded us of the places and people that inspired Telefèric Barcelona from the very beginning.”
Highlights of the Restaurant

The La Jolla restaurant features Spanish dishes such as patatas bravas, jamón ibérico, garlic shrimp, croquetas, and Wagyu empanadas. Guests can also choose from several made-to-order paellas, including seafood, meat, and vegetarian options. The restaurant will also offer Spanish-inspired cocktails, sangria, and a wine list featuring more than 100 Spanish wines.
Co-founder Maria Padrosa designed the space, combining Mediterranean elements with Southern California’s coastal aesthetic. She also added several handcrafted Spanish materials bought directly from Spanish artisans inside the restaurant. Telefèric Barcelona La Jolla also plans to introduce special events such as flamenco nights, brunch, and happy hour offerings in the future.
The La Jolla opening expands Telefèric Barcelona’s growing U.S. footprint while introducing the family-owned brand to the San Diego market for the first time.
