Downtown chicken joint submits building permit application for construction plans.
Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles is renovating its 16-year-old downtown location. The restaurant, known for its chicken and waffles, first opened in Atlanta in 1996.
Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles submitted a building permit application with City of Atlanta at the beginning of October for its expansion and remodeling plans, totaling an estimated $100,000.
What Now Atlanta spoke with Kourtney Reed, marketing director for the restaurant chain, about the renovation project Tuesday. Reed would not comment on the chicken joint’s plans for remodeling and expanding its downtown location.
Coincidently, the building that houses Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles, at 529 Peachtree St. NE, sold for $1,050,000 ($282/sq.ft.) on April 19, 2012, just months before the permit was filed, according to Realty Trac.
Reed would not confirm nor deny whether or not Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles purchased the building as part of its expansion plans.

Hope they get the money in advance. Just sayin…..They aren’t notorious for paying their bills on time.
That sidewalk has been super crowded for most of this year. It is about time they expanded. That street was getting as hectic as the homeless/crackhead block on Juniper right around the corner from it…

Is my reading comprehension weird this morning? Did foodseller mean they ‘are’
instead of ‘aren’t’ and who is hoa666 and what was his story?
Wondered who hoa666 was myself. Glad GKCW is expanding; great food, great concept, that’s still going strong.
Is it just me or were the ‘chicken joint’ mentions a bit jaring? It’s not a food truck.
Gladys Chicken and Waffles DOES NOT pay their bills. They filed bankruptcy in February 2013
