Joystick Gamebar is Closing in Edgewood
Joystick Gamebar is a retro arcade bar in Atlanta that combines coin-operated arcade games with craft cocktails. Located on Edgewood Avenue, the bar features retro arcade games, craft cocktails, and a nostalgic atmosphere. It also hosts themed gaming events and other gatherings.
The gaming destination has been a part of the neighborhood for 14 years. The bar announced that its Edgewood location will close, with its final day of service scheduled for July 12. The owner did not provide a specific reason for the closure but said the business hopes to reopen at a new location.
Over the years, the bar has built a following among Atlanta’s arcade and nightlife enthusiasts. It has earned a loyal following with its quarter-play arcade games, pinball machines, themed cocktails, and tabletop gaming.
Popular menu items include the smashburger, wings, and sesame fries. The rotating house cocktails, many named after staff members, are another highlight of the menu. This includes Josh’s Strawberry Jam, Chris’ Spicy Boi, Lauren’s Passion, Kysha’s Stan, and Dan’s Coffee Addiction.

Longtime Customers Express Disappointment
The announcement prompted owners and customers to reflect on the bar’s 14-year run in Edgewood. In its announcement, Joystick Gamebar thanked the community for its support over the years. Customers have also taken to social media to share some memories and hope for the return of the game bar.
One Instagram user wrote, “We got married here! Our ring bearer was determined by high scores. Our favorite place since day 1. Thank you for all the Edgewood memories, Joystick! Our patronage will follow wherever you go.”
Another user wrote, “RIP Old Edgewood: Noni’s, Soundtable, Music Room, Pizzeria Vesuvius!!! A time was had, and I wish we had more time!”
A customer also wrote, “Joystick was one of those cool things we had that we could brag about to people from New York or LA. Sooooooo many first dates. Soooooo many good times. Big corporations can’t be beat, and the whole street will inevitably become condos, but we will never forget.”
