The Mexican seafood chain has seen success in the last few years.

The owners of Mariscos La Costa recently submitted a liquor license application for their newest location, opening at 4472 S Archer Avenue. This is set to be the chain’s third restaurant, the others in Belmont-Cragin and West Town. Co-owner Jose Covarrubias told What Now Chicago he does not yet have an opening date set, but it could be a month out.

Covarrubias said he and his team have been planning the location for three-to-four months. The chian is known for their Nayarit-style seafood, like mendigo seafood broth, shrimp and cheese empanadas, and fish tacos. The Belmont and West Town spots also serve salads, dinner plates, soups, steak and appetizers like guacamole.

While the food options are diverse, La Costa also serves cocktails, margaritas and beers. A heavy option is their coco loco cocktail with shrimp, octopus, chopped clams and scallops with their house-made cocktail sauce, all served in a coconut shell. The drinks accompany their live music events.

Mariscos La Costa is under construction on the north side of S Archer Avenue. This is not far from Midway International Airport, and is across from Michael’s Sports Lounge. El Cangrejo seafood restaurant is also listed at this address.
