A new place to grab a drink or have a night out is planned for the neighborhood.

Gunny’s Pub is under construction at 2642 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. This comes from local Martin O’Connor who has years of experience in hospitality. O’Connor told What Now Chicago he is not announcing an official opening date yet, but it will be sometime this summer.

O’Connor’s hospitality experience includes working at concepts in the past such as Lucky Dorr and Mordecai in Wrigleyville. For a long time, he has been wanting to debut a mom-and-pop-style restaurant and bar of his own.

“I felt Lincoln Park and Lakeview could use a spot to get a cocktail at a very neighborhood price point,” O’Connor said.

The new space will have two additions, a traditional neighborhood tavern in the front and a restaurant and lounge space in the back. O’Connor is releasing the menu closer to the opening, but he describes it as “upscale casual fare.” This will include both appetizers and entrees.

Gunny’s will open on the west side of N Lincoln Avenue, next to Juno Sushi Chicago. This is near the center of Lincoln Park, close to other bars such as Rose’s Lounge and Pour Decisions Chicago. The area is a few blocks north of the Fullerton CTA Red Line station.

The hours of operation for the pub will be 11 a.m.-11 p.m. six days a week. Updates on Gunny’s Pub can be found on their Instagram @gunnyspub.
