A Lower West Side bagel concept is coming to a busy intersection in the neighborhood.
From Block Club Chicago, the team at Pilsen’s Rosca is building their first brick-and-mortar at 1502 W 18th Street. The bagel spot has been around as a pop-up for six years, and they have been seeking expansion in the neighborhood. An opening date hasn’t yet been announced, but owner Felix Zepeda is hoping to debut the location by the end of the year.
In August, the team announced their location is coming to the Near South Side neighborhood. Zepeda took to social media and expressed his excitement to serve the Pilsen area in a more permanent way.
“Something is coming, and I can’t wait for you to see it,” says the post from Zepeda.
The bagel business brings flavors from Mexico for their menu, with options like blueberry coconut, mango and pepita and cinnamon raisin churro. They are known as “Home of the Chicago bagel” from their Facebook page. At the pop-up, the team serves the bread with toppings like cream cheese and labneh.
The storefront is at the intersection of S Laflin Street, to the right of Fantasia Cafe. This is also close to Canton Regio Mexican restaurant on the same side of the street. The 18th Street CTA Pink Line station is a short walk west of the building.
What Now Chicago has reached out to the Rosca team and is awaiting comment.
