After nearly two decades of business, 1 Happy Girl is closing its Lemont store. The boutique offers curated fashion for women. The retailer is now shifting its focus to the New Lenox store, as the brand could not sustain operations at the Lemont location.

1 Happy Girl Closing Its Lemont Location

On June 7, 1 Happy Girl announced its closure through a social media post. The brand is closing its Lemont store at 314 Canal St. The boutique has served shoppers in downtown Lemont for the past 18 years.

In the closure announcement, the owner highlighted the efforts behind the location. She said, “For more than a decade, I was here seven days a week, pouring my heart into this store, building relationships, celebrating milestones, and creating something that became so much more than just a business.”

The owner described the closure as a difficult decision. Rising operating costs and prolonged street closures reduced accessibility and customer traffic to the store. The company plans to consolidate inventory and operations at its New Lenox store moving forward.

According to a report by Patch, the store will hold a goodbye sale from June 10 to 20, offering discounts up to 70%.

From a Guest-Room Closet to Two Chicagoland Locations

Founder Paige launched 1 Happy Girl in 2008. At just 18 years of age, she started a small venture in a guest room closet. The business started to gain popularity very quickly. This led to the opening of a store in Lemont the next year.

1 Happy Girl expanded to four locations in the Chicago suburbs. Later on, the company decided to consolidate its operations.

Today, 1 Happy Girl is an independently owned store. 1 Happy Girl specializes in women’s clothes, accessories, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and graphic tees. Its merchandise includes apparel and accessories designed for a range of personal styles.

A personalized shopping experience helped build a loyal customer base for the brand. The store has always focused on helping customers find fashion that’s fun, confident, and easy to approach.

The closure of the Lemont store marks the end of an era. The owner thanked the community, writing, “To everyone who has supported us over the last 18 years, thank you. Thank you for being part of one of the greatest blessings of my life. Lemont helped make us who we are. And we will never forget that.”

Despite the closure, the company said it plans to continue serving customers from its New Lenox location, writing, ‘This isn’t goodbye. It’s simply the next chapter, and we hope you’ll continue it with us in New Lenox.’
