Those getting off at the Damen Blue Line station will soon have a new boutique option.
Rock N Rags is a women’s clothing chain that has grown in popularity and is coming to 1531 N Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park. The concept is owned by siblings Kira and David Kessler, and they plan on debuting the new store sometime next month. Kira told What Now Chicago that along with the opening, she and David plan on expanding to additional storefronts throughout the city.
The clothing store operates at 613 Central Avenue in Highland Park, first opening at 2042 N Halstead Street in Lincoln Park. Since launching the brand in 2013, the Kesslers have been selling boutique items like outerwear, tops, bottoms, dresses, swimsuits and more casual clothing like sweatshirts.
“Rock N Rags is a family-owned clothing boutique based out of Chicago and growing worldwide. Our mission is to empower every woman shopping with us to feel confident in their own skin through spreading edgy on-trend clothing and kindness,” says the description on their Facebook page.
The owners don’t only specialize in dresses and tops, as visitors at their stores can also pick out belts, metal bangles, necklaces and scarves. For on-the-go items, locations sell shoulder bags. All of their merchandise can be found online.
Their newest shop is opening on the north side of Milwaukee Avenue near Wicker Park’s center. This replaces Eiffel Waffle, a dessert shop at the address. It is also next to Thursday Boot Company.
Kira has not yet confirmed where specifically the company will expand their reach, but they have their sights set on city neighborhoods, as well as the suburbs. She said the team will be announcing the official opening date for the Wicker Park location on their Instagram @shoprocknrags.
