A new dining option is on the way to the coastal town.
From their social media, On Water Dining is coming to 7365 Cedar Street in Port Sanilac. The area is considered the “thumb” of Michigan, and is being opened by chef and restaurateur Clint Frenette. When contacted, Frenette told What Now Detroit he is hoping to debut the restaurant the weekend of Memorial Day.
Frenette has a long history in restaurants, previously the owner and chef of Uri’s Landing which was the previous restaurant at the address. He also was an instructor for the Sanilac Career Center Culinary Arts Program. A menu has not been released, but those dining can expect seafood entrees and dishes with fresh ingredients.
“Rooted in the Great Lakes and proud to call Port Sanilac home. At On Water Dining, we cook with purpose, sourced from Michigan’s farmers, fishermen, and artisans, and show up for our guests,” says the description on their Facebook page.
As the name implies, the restaurant is on the water, near the Port Sanilac Boat Launch. This will be the only restaurant on Cedar Street, and nearby concepts include Blue Water Sports Bar & Grill and Alli Bar. Port Sanilac is about an hour and 45 minutes north of Detroit.
On Water Dining will also be participating in community events like Port Sanilac Music in the Park, a three-month-long concert series in Harbor Park. More information on the official opening will be released in the coming weeks.
What Now Detroit is awaiting further comment from Frenette.
