The grills and ovens are being installed for a new restaurant concept in the township.
Baldwin Restaurant Group is releasing their newest concept The Baldwin at 55208 Van Dyke Avenue this year. This is the third restaurant from the group, again staying in the suburbs. Executive Chef and Managing Partner Gabriella Baldwin told What Now Detroit they are hoping to open around Nov. 13.
The group also manages J Baldwin’s in Clinton Township and Testa Barra in Macomb. The company was started by Chef Jeff Baldwin, who has over 30 years of experience cooking, even at historic events including former President Ronald Regan’s second inauguration. He founded the restaurant group in 2004, and it has since been growing through the family.
“We have a lot of energy we’re bringing,” Gabriella said.
Gabriella herself has years of experience, graduating from the Culinary Institute of America and working in New York City restaurants. She is a 10-time Food Network competitor, and she also writes for Macomb Now’s column Local Pour.
While there is no menu available, the dishes will be progressive and new American, with “European cafe undertones.” J Baldwin’s also serves new American cuisine, including entrees like chicken milanese, cauliflower steak and braised short ribs. Drinks will also be served.
The Baldwin is joining the plaza with Leo’s Coney Island and Hamlin Pub. Vince & Joe’s Gourmet Market is also attached to the space. This is at the intersection of 25 Mile Road.
