A longtime Mexican food stand in Hollywood has closed its doors. Hollywood’s Cactus Taqueria permanently closed on July 12 after more than three decades in business. The restaurant announced the closure in a social media post.
Hollywood Says Goodbye to Cactus Taqueria
After 34 years of service, the longstanding Cactus Taqueria officially closed its shutters. According to the closure announcement on social media, the eatery served its last batch of tacos on Sunday, July 12.
Located on Vine Street in Los Angeles, the taco stand was known for its walk-up service and affordable menu. The menu offered corn tortillas, street tacos, burritos, and super fries, along with a juice bar.
The Cactus Taqueria team announced the closure in collaboration with Dinertheory.
The July 10 post read, “You have two days left to eat at the taquería that survived a drive-by in the 90s and is beloved by Brad Pitt and Johnny Knoxville.”

According to the closure announcement, the restaurant team explained that the shutdown decision was due to circumstances beyond their control. The restaurant said the Vine Street property was sold to Angel Project Foundation for its expansion plans.
LA-based Project Angel Food is a nonprofit organization that prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to individuals with serious illness.
Story Behind the Food Stand
Founded in 1992, Cactus Taqueria started as a single taco stand in Hollywood. The family-run business later expanded into multiple locations across Los Angeles. The company currently operates five locations across Los Angeles.
In the closure announcement on its website, the restaurant team thanked the community and said, “We want to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to all of our loyal customers, friends, and families who have supported us throughout the years.”
The closure of the iconic Cactus Taqueria has left a significant gap in the LA dining community.
