Memphis, get ready to welcome the new and improved incarnation of a national fast-casual favorite. Franchise group Wendelta has purchased two area Wendy’s, with plans to renovate or rebuild them better than ever, reports Daily Memphian.
The Carlisle Corp. subsidiary purchased the restaurants from Meritage Hospitality Group. The stores-located at 4605 Poplar Avenue in East Memphis and 7569 Poplar Avenue in Germantown-are currently closed. Wendelta plans to either refurbish them or demolish them and restart from scratch.
Carlisle Corp. CEO Chance Carlisle states that he is confident area diners will find the finished products worth waiting for, saying: “We want to turn them into showcase Wendy’s restaurants that Memphis and Germantown residents would be proud of.”
Locals will be able to stop into the upgraded and newly re-opened Wendy’s in about a year; Wendelta plans to have them customer ready by summer of 2027.
Founded in 1969, Wendy’s is one of the bigger names in the fast-casual dining industry. Known in particular for its burgers and fries-though also beloved for its more obscure offerings like chili and baked potatoes-the chain now has more than 7,000 locations open worldwide.
