A Memphis-favorite food truck is getting ready to make good mornings even better. Crack of Dawn has filed papers to open a brick-and-mortar location of the beloved mobile eatery, giving locals a fresh way to start their days in a delicious way.
Crack of Dawn is planning to set up shop at 929 Porter Street. The restaurant has a certificate of occupancy under review with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development as of August 4. The application shows that Crack of Dawn will be taking over a 2,000 square foot space.
As readers may surmise based on the name, Crack of Dawn focuses on serving daytime meals-breakfast and brunch, specifically. However, the concept’s mission transcends that; owner Tamara Lee was kind enough to fill What Now Memphis in on Crack of Dawn’s driving ethos and aspirations, saying: “We are proud to become a permanent fixture in the South Memphis area, continuing our work to fight against food disparities as well as a decline in fresh food choices within an area labeled as a food desert.”
Crack of Dawn is on track to open by mid-September. Future regulars can look forward to enjoying an evolution of the restaurant that holds fast to its commitment to superior dining. Lee states: “While we are extending our hours and food choices, we are continuing our dedication to excellent customer service and preparing homestyle foods with a creative flare!”
