The wheels are in motion for a distinctive Memphis dining concept’s next act. Motion Water, described as “an upscale neo urban experience like none other”, has filed a zoning letter for a new Pontotoc Avenue location.

The concept submitted a zoning letter for a 163 Pontotoc Avenue storefront with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development that was completed on June 17. According to the paperwork, the storefront is currently used as a warehouse, but Motion Water will be breathing a more dynamic presence to the space.

The letter describes Motion Water as a “restaurant, bar, and grill” and a “Bar With <40% Non-Alcohol Sales”. A commercial addition permit, also filed on June 17, further states that the building spans 8,500 square feet, giving ample room for Motion Water to establish operations.

Memphis residents may recognize Motion Water from its 6700 Winchester Road home. The project of entrepreneur Ronald Turner, the restaurant’s Google page describes it, saying: “we offer an all-day brunch menu accompanied with fine wines, authentic tequilas, barreled spirits.”

It is unclear at this time whether or not the Pontotoc Avenue location will follow this established model. What Now Memphis has reached out to ownership and will update readers as details emerge.
