One of Memphis’s most exciting and innovative dining experiences is seeking new horizons. The Artist Table, a chef residency and event space, has closed its doors on South Main, with plans to reopen in a location that aligns with its ideals, reports Daily Memphian.
Founder and creator Daishu McGriff announced the sea change via social media post. She states: “After a year at 412 S Main, I’ve made the decision to close this chapter of The Artist Table. This space was built on love for Memphis, for our culture, for the brilliance of the people in this community. That mission hasn’t changed. I still believe in this concept with everything in me. But my peace, my integrity, and the dignity of this brand matter more than any location ever could.”
A new location has not yet been announced, but McGriff assures fans that The Artist Table will be back, saying: “We are relocating. Details to come! The Artist Table will return. Bigger. Freer. Built exactly the way it was always meant to be.”
A timeline isn’t presently available, but while locals await The Artist Table’s return, they can enjoy McGriff’s other endeavors. She is the force behind Shroomlicious Meals, a vegan concept focused around mushrooms that will appeal to vegans and carnivores alike. She is also hosting a seven-course Juneteenth dinner at Groovy Gratitude on June 19, where she and her partners will be “transforming their space and shutting down the surrounding street to create an unforgettable open air celebration of Black culture, artistry, and culinary excellence.”
