A New York-based Japanese sushi restaurant is set to debut in Philadelphia’s Midtown Village neighborhood.
Wabi Nori, co-founded by New York restaurateurs Hakki Akdeniz and Peter Wong, will open at 110 S. 11th St. in the former Morea space across from Jefferson Hospital, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The 2,000-square-foot space is a turnkey property with a fully built-out bar and kitchen, MSC reported.
This will be the sushi restaurant’s third location, joining its Lower East Side spot and a recently opened outpost in Queens.
Wabi Nori is known for its contemporary menu, featuring its signature toro toast topped with Kaluga caviar, along with a selection of nigiri, slices of raw fish served over seasoned rice, sashimi, thinly sliced raw fish served without rice, and hand rolls.
To complement the sushi, the restaurant offers specialty cocktails, including “Not Your Mama’s Mojito” made with sake, simple syrup, lime and mint, and the “Japanese Dream,” featuring plum liqueur, sake and grapefruit juice. A selection of sake, beer and wine will be available.
The restaurant also offers an all-you-can-drink Japanese brunch with unlimited sake mimosas paired with dishes such as chicken karaage with a green tea mochi waffle, a twist on chicken and waffles.
An official opening date has not yet been announced, however visit the Wabi Nori website and follow along on Instagram for the latest updates.
