The San Francisco Department of Public Health conducted a routine health inspection at Fish and Farm on April 23. Following the health inspection, the restaurant was ordered to close after inspectors documented multiple violations.
The report noted sewage water overflowing in the kitchen, a clogged drain, and food stored at improper temperatures.

Fish And Farm

Fish and Farm is a New American restaurant and gastropub offering a variety of seafood options. According to the official inspection report, the violations include:
- Lack of towels at the bar handwashing sink.
- A container of milk was measured at 56°F and was left in the side cooler at the back of the bar. The milk was discarded during the inspection. The restaurant staff was advised to store PHFs below 41°F or above 135°F.
- The report noted that the level of chlorine sanitizer during the dishwashing machine’s sanitize cycle was lower than 10 ppm. The required level is 50 ppm.
- The report noted that the facility does not have an operable 3-compartment sink for backup.
- Overflowing sewage onto the kitchen floor from the sink located under the 2-compartment prep sink was observed.
- The drain water was also overflowing from the floor drain near the entrance to the upstairs walk-in cooler.

- Broken cold water handle at the two-compartment sink in the food preparation area. An inoperable sink was found at the right end of the coffee counter in the kitchen area.
- Broken hot water handles were observed in the handwashing sink opposite the ice machine and in the employee restroom.
- The inspection report also mentions that the right-side faucet at the three-compartment sink in the dishwashing area was broken. The facility had turned off the main tap below the sink, as the hot water handle on the right-side faucet was leaking continuously.
- The left-side faucet of the 3-compartment sink in the dishwashing area was also broken. The sink was also turned off at the main. During the inspection, the main was turned on, and the hot water handle was found to be broken.
- The report noted a condenser leak into a bucket inside the left sidewalk walk-in downstairs.
- Unsecured CO₂ cylinders were kept in the downstairs walk-in coolers. The report suggests that the staff store the CO₂ cylinders securely on a solid surface.
- A slow drain was also observed at the handwashing sink in the kitchen prep area. A hose was connected to the mop sink, but it did not have a backflow prevention device.

Follow-up Inspection

According to the report, due to the documented violations, the restaurant was ordered to close. The San Francisco Department of Public Health also suspended the health permit of the restaurant.
The restaurant is required to correct all the violations before requesting a follow-up inspection. A reinspection will be conducted within 15 days, or upon request.
