Several Houston-area restaurants permanently closed in June, marking the end of longtime neighborhood favorites and newer dining concepts alike. Among them were Roswell’s Saloon, Blue Tuba, and four other restaurants across the Houston area.

Nona’s Italian Grill

A longtime favorite in The Woodlands, Nona’s Italian Grill closed on June 1. The restaurant served its final dinner last month and marked the end of its nine-year journey. Founded by Juan Garcia, the restaurant was known for its Northern Italian cuisine, homemade pasta, and welcoming atmosphere.

The restaurant began its journey in The Woodlands in 2018 and then expanded with a second location in Montgomery’s Woodforest area. Read more about the restaurant here.

Pho Fix

After only five years of operation, Pho Fix has permanently shut down. The Garden Oaks location at The Stomping Grounds served its final meal on June 8.

The restaurant was well-known for its traditional Vietnamese dishes like slow-simmered pho, vermicelli bowls, banh mi sandwiches, and more. The menu was inspired by owner Danny Pham’s family recipes. Read more about the closure here.

Juanita’s Mexican Restaurant

The T.C. Jester Boulevard location of Juanita’s Mexican Restaurant has officially said goodbye. The restaurant announced its closure on social media on June 25.

The restaurant had served the community for 25 years. The family-owned Tex-Mex restaurant was known for casual dining and family-friendly meals. The menu offered classic Tex-Mex dishes. Read more about the closure here.

Blue Tuba

Blue Tuba shuttered its Houston Heights neighborhood location on June 27, 2026. The popular Euro-Tex fusion restaurant was founded by Czech couple Vlado Kolenic and Giga Leszayova.

The menu combined Central European flavors with Texas-inspired dishes. The restaurant was a local favorite for its creative menu and lively atmosphere.

The closure of the restaurant was announced by a Houston-based singer, David LaDuca. David said, “Well, they say nothing good lasts forever. I’m so sad to say that Blue Tuba will close its doors at the end of the month.” Read more about the restaurant closure here.

Roswell’s Saloon

A space-themed cocktail bar, Roswell’s Saloon, permanently shut its doors on June 28. Located in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood, the bar was founded in 2023.

It had a neon-lit interior, creative cocktails, and a science fiction-inspired atmosphere. The space also featured frequent DJ nights and cabaret performances. The owners said they chose not to renew the bar’s lease.

Sambal Chef

Sambal Chef, a Malaysian restaurant in Houston’s Chinatown, permanently closed in June. After five years of operation, the restaurant served its last meal on June 28. The restaurant specialized in traditional Malaysian cuisine. The restaurant began its journey in Pearland in 2021, and then it relocated to Houston’s Chinatown in 2024.

The restaurant owners decided not to renew the lease for the location. The closure announcement also noted that the property had been sold and the new owners had other plans for the space. Read more about the restaurant here.
