A coffee company that has seen growth in the city is moving one of their cafes down the road.

From recent social media conversations, Momentum Coffee is relocating to 1900 S State Street at the former Burger Point restaurant space. The coffee company currently has three locations in the city. Co-owner Tracy Powell told What Now Chicago he and the team are hoping to open the first or second week of May.

Starting out in May 2020, Powell and co-owner Nikki Bravo wanted to create a space that connects the community while being able to enjoy quality brews. Originally, their 2119 S State Street spot was a coworking location, but during the pandemic they decided to lean into a coffee shop. Now that this lease is ending, they are moving down the street to keep serving South Loop.

“We’re pretty much staying with our same customer base,” Powell said.

The South Loop cafe, along with their Millennium Park and Austin cafes, offer brews, matchas, chai drinks and even ginger lemonade. Lunch specials and handhelds are also on the menu, like their breakfast croissant sandwich. Smoothies and Pepsi products are drink alternatives.

Momentum Coffee’s new spot is coming to the intersection of S Archer Avenue, and will be close to My Place South Loop Restaurant. Other dining spots at the building include Cafe Blonda and Subway.
