A James Beard Award winning-chef is getting ready to debut his next restaurant.

From Block Club Chicago, the team at Virtue Restaurant & Bar, Damarr Brown and Erick Williams, are getting ready to reveal a new unnamed project at 219 N Elizabeth Street. Williams owns Virtue Hospitality, and this is the company’s sixth concept. For an opening date, Brown told What Now Chicago he is not revealing one at this time.

“The concept’s design and cuisine are built on patient, trained craftsmanship, with a room designed to feel warm, elegant, and soulful. The result is a space that continues Virtue Hospitality’s broader mission: honoring culture through food and hospitality,” said a statement from the hospitality company.

Virtue Restaurant & Bar opened in 2018 at 1462 E 53rd Street. It has become a destination in Hyde Park for American Southern cuisine, with signature plates like fish & grits, blackened catfish and short rib. A list of wines pair with the main dishes.

Brown is chef de cuisine for Virtue, and he won the James Beard Award for Emerging Chef in 2023. Along with this recognition, he was a finalist on Top Chef: Houston and has been featured in Food & Wine magazine.

The unnamed concept will be on the west side of Fulton Market, close to The Elizabeth luxury apartments. Other restaurants nearby include Ever Restaurant, Pitch & Pour Supper Club and Macello. This is a short walk from the N Ogden Avenue intersection.

As of now, no website or social media have been set up for the concept. What Now Chicago has reached out to the Virtue Hospitality team for more information.
