A Charleston dining destination will relocate to a larger outpost early next year.

167 Sushi Bar, part of 167 Hospitality Group, plans to move from its intimate 24-seat restaurant at 289 E. Bay St. to 5 Cumberland St. in the former Bumpa’s space, according to an Instagram post.

“Don’t worry, it will still be intimate, but our new home will give us the space we need to offer all of you more reservations, a Japanese inspired cocktail program, as well as more of what we’re most passionate about—sushi & izakaya,” the post read.

The menu centers on sushi and Japanese-inspired small plates, featuring a daily selection of nigiri, specialty maki rolls with seafood such as tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp and soft-shell crab, and chef’s choice sashimi platters. Additional offerings include salads, miso soup, dumplings, tuna crispy rice, oysters, charred octopus, poke, fried rice dishes and sesame lamb noodles.

To complement its menu, 167 Sushi Bar offers a beverage program featuring sake, draft beer, wine and sparkling selections.

The move will leave the E. Bay Street storefront vacant, though the group suggests a new concept may soon fill the space.

“289 E. Bay St isn’t going anywhere! We will be announcing our plans later this year,” the post read.
