The chicken wing industry turns out to be very competitive in the Midwest.
From Rock River Current, a new Wing Snob is in the works for 336 W Chrysler Drive in Belvidere. It follows the trend of the company bringing more franchised locations to the Midwest. Franchisee Johnny Shabani told What Now Chicago he is hoping to open his location around mid-July.
Shabani said he has been planning the location since November last year, and he signed the lease at the beginning of 2026. Currently, the closest Wing Snob to the Rockford area is in Aurora. He said he would like to pursue additional franchised locations in the future, although a separate franchisee is getting ready to open one in Machesney Park.
Wing Snob advertises their wings as being freshly made and not cooked from frozen. They have signature sauces including Lemon Pepper, Awesome Sauce, Garlic Parm, Chicken & Waffles, Teriyaki, Honey BBQ and Buffalo. Combos are also available, with options like chicken sandwiches with loaded fries.
The new chicken spot is opening on the south side of W Chrysler Drive, sharing the building with a Dunkin’. Concepts in the building behind the future Wing Snob include La Michoacana Flor De Mexico ice cream, Anna’s Gaming Cafe and Fiesta Restaurant Mexican Eatery. This is right off of state route 20, east of Rockford.
Right now, there are over 20 locations around the state, mostly in the Chicagoland area. What Now Chicago previously covered a wing spot opening in Romeoville last spring.
While the fryers are being prepared for opening, those passing by on W Chrysler Drive will be able to see construction progress.
